With this article, I would like to pay tribute to the only minister in our history who paid the highest price in his position and for his political actions. In the first weeks of 2023, we will remember 100 years since the tragic events that led to Rašín’s death on 18/02/1923. At the same time, our country draws from his legacy to this day, and it is a sad combination of circumstances that, after a free silence, we once again trample so much on everything that we are left here after him. What exactly happened 100 years ago? On January 5, 1923, while leaving his house, Alois Rašín was shot with two shots at close range. On February 18 of that year, the finance minister succumbed to his injuries. The perpetrator was the nineteen-year-old anarcho-communist Josef Šoupal, who later changed his name to Ilja Dněprostroje, thus confirming his mental disorder. The laws of the time assumed the death penalty for a similar act, but given that the citizens of Czechoslovakia until 1950 reached adulthood at the age of 21, he only received a sentence of eighteen years in prison from the court. He spent 2 years more in prison because of his disobedience, but even that could not compensate for the loss of the Czechoslovak people. The importance of the politician himself for that time is proven by the size of the state funeral. In February 1923, Prague experienced the largest funeral procession in its history so far, and it is not surprising that Rašín was given such an honor. He took the lion’s share of support for our state, for which he faced oppression by the Austro-Hungarian authorities for many years and was eventually murdered for his political activities. As a member of the Big Five, he directly supported the building of independent Czechoslovak institutions and was present at the announcement of the new state when he wrote the first law “on the establishment of an independent state” with his own hand. He was appointed the 1st Minister of Finance of Czechoslovakia, devised and implemented a monetary reform that separated our economy from the Austrian one for good. In the first parliamentary elections, he was elected a member of parliament and later re-appointed as finance minister when he replaced Karel Engliš in the Švehl government. For the second time as Minister of Finance, he strove for a balanced state budget, and as a supporter of the Austrian school of economics, he had a great influence on the fact that inflation in Czechoslovakia did not reach such heights as in neighboring countries. For the second time, the ministerial chair was vacated only by his tragic death… The entire article will be published in the January issue of the Revised List of the Golden Pin. On January 5, exactly one hundred years after the assassination, we will go to the petition committee and submit a petition for za-korunu.cz On January 6 from 6:00 p.m., a discussion will take place as part of the FREEDOM CONFERENCE: Discussion on the future of the Czech right. The panel discussion on the future of the Czech crown and money in general will be moderated by Libor Vondráček. Everything will take place during the upcoming presidential elections, which will also be taken into account in the discussion. Block 18:00 – money today and tomorrow: Vít Jedlička (president of Liberland and promoter of cryptocurrencies), Robert Vlášek (market analyst and gold investment expert), ??? (TBC) Block 20:00 – accept the euro?: Petr Mach (economist and university teacher, founder of Svobodných), Markéta Šichtařová (economist and author of many economic publications), Hana Lipovská (economist and university teacher), Jan Mráz (developer, teacher and promoter of conservation crowns within the ODS) January 7 from 14:00 – We will remember Rašín with a march that aims to stand up for values that are not doing very well today! For all that is left of him and that is in danger. Perhaps even for independence, which Alois Rašín once fought for us and we have been losing again for a long time. The march will stand up for freedom and independence! For a national economy with no debts and low taxes! For a stable currency and overall preservation of the Czech crown! With this march, we would like to point out that it is quite cynical how the latest governments are committing an assassination on the legacy of a person who actually succumbed to the consequences of the assassination exactly 100 years ago. The date of the event will be determined precisely according to the 100th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Rašína (January 5, 1923).
February 18 from 10:00 a.m. – At the traditional commemoration event, we will meet at the site of the fatal attack of Josef Šoupal in front of Alois Rašín’s house and remember the importance of this statesman thanks to the speeches of, for example, Dr. Miroslava Houšek and Dr. Jiří Payne. Surely there will also be a reminder of his most famous quotes such as: “Work and save,” “Frugality is one part of good politics. Expediency is the second part,” or “That’s hard. Where there is danger of poverty, there is danger of socialism. And where there is a threat of socialism, there is a threat of misery.” And the ageless validity of his words can be our hope that we don’t have to laboriously invent the values that stood at the birth of our state, but just remember them and keep them alive. It is enough to draw more from the lives of the greats of our history and try to live similarly exemplary lives like Karel Havlíček Borovský, Tomáš Baťa or Alois Rašín.Even today, we have some wise and exemplary women among us, and I am grateful that I can be close to some of them. Already today, I am looking forward to what one of them, Robert Vlášek, will say in his short speech on January 7 at 14:00 in front of the building of the Czech National Bank. At the same time, we will be not only at the start of the march, but still at the start of the year 2023 itself, which will hopefully continue in a similarly hopeful spirit as the march and will be more successful and happier for our nation than the years we have just passed.
